Meet Dr. Stanley Stein
Dr. Stanley Stein has been in active practice in the Fort Bend, Southwest Houston, and South Texas areas since 1983. He has played an active role in the medical community, serving on various hospital medical staff committees and holding leadership positions, including chairing committees such as Credentials, Quality Insurance, Bylaws, Medical Executive, and Hospital Boards. He has also served as Chief of Staff at four hospitals.
Committed to excellence in patient care, Dr. Stein exceeds the state of Texas's required continuing medical education (CME) hours each year. He remains at the forefront of gastroenterology advancements by regularly reading multiple medical journals to stay informed about new developments and treatments in the field. He regularly attends conferences, including the annual American College of Gastroenterology meeting, to gain insight into the latest treatments.
Dr. Stein believes in sharing his knowledge with both peers and the community. He is active on various Speaker Bureaus and dedicates his time, expertise, and resources to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA). His contributions have included serving as head of the Medical Advisory Committee for the Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter, holding a position on the National Governing Board, and acting as Chair of Patient Education at the national level. He played a key role in revising CCFA brochures on Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis, developing a nationally implemented facilitator training program for support groups, and co-editing the nationally acclaimed book Inflammatory Bowel Disease: A Guide for Patients and Their Families.
Dr. Stein has a special interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Crohn’s Disease, and Ulcerative Colitis, and is on the cutting edge of therapy with the use of biologic agents to improve the care of these patients. As a former staff physician at MD Anderson, he is deeply passionate about colorectal cancer prevention and screening, emphasizing the importance of early detection and proactive care.
